    Project Management Scheduling

Mel is a native Californian. She obtained her BS in Mathematics with minor in Computer Science from Azusa Pacific University (California), 1984. Mel has worked as a software programmer/engineer for 19 years, including 7 on a software application that was an early PPM tool (pre-dates MS Project – heck, pre-dated MS DOS!).  In 1994 Mel came to Utah to work for EDS at Smith’s Food & Drug Centers account and has been with the company ever since:  first as a programmer, then Infrastructure tech, then promoted and stayed in PMO role (Quality Assurance, PM SME, Process SME, Scheduling SME) since 2001.  Although she's been with same company since coming to Utah  the company has merged, spun off, then spun off again:  EDS -> HP -> HPE ->DXC Technology.  Her accounts have ranged from retail grocery (like Smiths), to government, to internal groups. Currently Mel is working for the County of San Diego account on the ‘OSO’ team (Operational Support Office), developing overall PM process documentation (includes all aspects of project management work for both applications and infrastructure projects) for a new 7 year contract. She focuses on process improvement efforts in the areas of schedule and budget performance, and providing master scheduler efforts for the ConnectWellSD program tool suite (brings Health and Human Services departments’ application data into a single, self-serve portal for the County and its constituents).

In 2013 Mel earned her PMP and in 2015 she added the PMI-SP. Mel is one of only two scheduling professionals in the Northern Utah Chapter.

Mel is married, has one child who made her a grandmother last year! She also has 2 cats and 2 guinea pigs.
